Enjoy a Day In Edmonds
Edmonds Tour Group organizes tours to Edmonds, a small Pacific Northwest waterfront city. It is a historic seaport and logging town that began life in 1876 as a pioneer settlement.
Edmonds is often described as the "Gem of Puget Sound".
Every Spring, flowers burst forth with a symphony of color in beds at the street corners and in hanging baskets at every old fashioned street light along the sidewalk. Wall murals, sculptures, and other examples of public art are scattered throughout.
The village has a wide variety of building architecture, much of which dates to the beginning of the last century, and is full of one of a kind boutique merchants offering house wares, clothing, hand crafted items, soaps, lotions, candies, candles, kid’s stuff, jewelry and art. There are many wonderful restaurants and coffee houses.
There are five waterfront parks, a 23 acre wildlife sanctuary and the Port of Edmonds, named the National Marina of the Year in 2006,within an easy walk from the center of the downtown village.
A century ago, the primary mode of transportation on Puget Sound was steam powered vessels carrying passengers from port to port. In the early years, before they had a wharf, Edmonds settlers had to row out and flag down one of those ships to get a ride into Seattle. Today, steam boilers have been replaced with diesel turbines and the slow weighty ships have given way to nimble catamarans.
The Edmonds Adventure is an escorted excursion which begins atthe Seattle waterfront where we board one of those "cats" to begin your cruise to Edmonds. The sea trips end just a few blocks from the heart of the quaint downtown village.
According to a viewer’s survey conducted by Seattle’s KING-TV, Edmonds has been chosen as Western Washington’s friendliest town.
Being chosen once would be nice, but as of 2004, the Puget Sound Port had received the accolade nine years in a row.
